You can get adolescent animals in one of two ways. You can sell 12 chins to the small, 8 zygomytes to the medium and 6 dragons to the large trader every time they show up. It’s best to give them adolescent animals. Small animal traders show up every day, medium animal traders renew every two days and large every 3 days. Traders of what animal are in your pen automatically show up after reset or you can speak to granny potterington to ask for specific vendors to show up.

You get beans by selling to the traders next to the well. Now initially you will want beans to buy more pens and other items from the farmers market. You can make medicinal honeycomb (which increases health) in the beehive by adding woad leaves and delicious honeycomb (which increases happiness) by adding marigolds. If they become diseased or have ran out of food this will drop but you can increase it again by curing the animal and feeding them honeycomb. Make sure their health and happiness are both 100%. If you want the most farming xp from an animal simply raise them to elder and gather produce then. Remove the animals and add new babies and repeat.

When they have grown to the desired stage, gather produce and this is when you get farming xp plus some items. Leave your chins to grow (the timings of growth are all on the wiki but it takes about 2 days for chins to get to elder). Woad leaves you can by from the guy in falador very cheap for food for chins. Acquire 6 baby crystal chins, check them, put them in the pen, and always make sure there is food in the trough as this increases the xp and produce when you come to “gather produce”. The best thing to raise in a small pen is chinchompas (preferably crystal ones). The other pens you unlock with beans (more on that later). When you complete the POF tutorial you have the small pen unlocked. The main thing about POF is to raise animals in the pens and check for experience and possibly other materials (none really worth it in the ardy farm but it’s how you get dinosaur roars, spark chitin and beak snot in ranch out of time). Chins in small pens, zygomytes in medium pens and dragons in the large and breeding pens for most xp. Tl dr - put animals in pens, raise to adolescent and sell to traders for beans or raise to elder and gather produce for most xp (you can’t do both so prioritise beans initially then xp).
